The diamond suspension is a liquid made of a uniform suspension of diamond particles which guarantees a uniform dispersion of the particles on the surfaces to be treated. Its viscosity is variable and it is soluble in water or oil.
The diamond suspension may contain monocrystallines and polycrystallines, depending on its applications and desired results. The diamond suspension is used for smoothing, lapping and fine finishes.
Thanks to the angular particles, the suspension of polycrystalline diamonds allows a quick polishing and minimizes loss of shape. On the other hand, monocrystalline suspension, thanks to its solid particles and protruding edges, allows a clean cut.
The diamond suspension has different uses such as:
• Surface machining.
• Lapping: use of liquid diamond on the surface and tools for a finish procedure.
• Metallography: Study of the formation and structure of metals and alloys. In this process, the liquid diamond is used for preparing the samples in test tubes for their observation through the microscope.
